Position Overview
As the Director of Accounting, you will lead our Community Accountants team while overseeing all accounting operations for our property management portfolio. This role combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on management of core accounting functions. The ideal candidate brings both technical accounting expertise and strong leadership abilities to drive operational excellence.

Monday-Thursday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Directly manage and develop the Community Accountants team
- Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with each direct report
- Establish departmental goals and performance metrics
- Participate in recruitment and selection processes
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture
Strategic Financial Planning
- Partner with executive leadership on financial strategies aligned with company objectives
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency
- Evaluate and incorporate new accounting technologies (AP solutions, AI, etc.)
- Lead implementation of innovative software solutions
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Oversee production of accurate, timely financial statements for management and clients
- Develop comprehensive financial dashboards and KPI reporting systems
- Present financial information to executive leadership, board members, and clients
- Provide expert financial analysis to support decision-making
Core Accounting Operations
- Direct month-end and year-end close processes in accordance with GAAP
- Lead annual budget preparation and performance monitoring
- Establish financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and yearly ACH reconciliation processes
- Ensure accurate and timely posting of automated payments
- Supervise reconciliation of accounts payable and receivables
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in property management
- 3+ years of management/supervisory experience
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with GAAP and accounting best practices
